Achilles Tendinitis
Achilles tendinitis is a condition that is often associated with overuse, or degeneration of the Achilles tendon. The Achilles tendon runs from the calf muscles to the heel bone, allowing you to walk, run, or jump. There are two main kinds of Achilles tendinitis: insertional (affecting the lower part of the tendon) and non-insertional (affecting the middle portion of the tendon).
Achilles Tendon Tears
Achilles tendon tears are often associated with sports such as running, football, soccer, and other high impact activities. The Achilles tendon is extremely strong, anchoring the calf muscles to the heel bone. If overexerted, it can stretch so far as to tear partially or completely, making it difficult to stand or walk. Because of poor blood supply, they tend to heal slowly. We offer surgical and non-surgical care including targeted stem cell and PRP therapies to help you heal faster.
Anterior and Posterior Cruciate Ligament Tear (ACL & PCL)
ACL and PCL tears are common knee injuries. We see a lot of athletes with injuries to the ACL, in particular. In some cases, non-surgical treatments such as PRP and stem cell therapy, physical therapy, or anti-inflammatory medication may be all that is required to promote healing. In others, surgery may be necessary. This can often be performed as a minimally invasive arthroscopic procedure.
Arthritis
Arthritis is a painful condition that causes swelling, pain, and stiffness within joints. It can lead to joint damage severe enough to require joint replacement. We offer surgical and non-surgical care for all forms of arthritis, including osteoarthritis (also called wear-and-tear arthritis) and rheumatoid arthritis.
Baker's Cyst
A Baker’s cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops behind the knee. It can cause pain when extending or flexing your leg. Baker’s cysts are often associated with osteoarthritis, or rheumatoid arthritis. The excess fluid can back up into the joint space.
Bipartite Patella
Bipartite patella is a condition in which the kneecap (patella) is formed as two bones rather than one. It is present at birth (congenital) and does not properly fuse as the child grows.
Bunions
Bunions are a joint and bone disorder in which the base of the big toe presses against the metatarsal bone, creating a painful lump known as a bunion. Bunions are often easily visible and should be evaluated by an orthopedic specialist well versed in all areas of foot care.
Carpal Tunnel Release
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a disorder that puts pressure on the median nerve that runs through the arm to the wrist and fingers. A carpal tunnel release surgically relieves this pressure, allowing the median nerve to heal.
Charcot Foot Deformity
Charcot foot is a serious medical condition that can cause significant bone deformity, and may, in some cases, lead to amputation. Caused by neuropathy, it is often associated with diabetes. Symptoms may include warmth, redness, swelling and pain.
Claw Foot/Toes
Claw foot and toes may be present at birth, although the condition can develop at any point in life. They are related to an imbalance of the musculature of the foot, in which the tendons and ligaments become overtight, compressing the foot and causing the toes to curl downwards.
Collateral Ligament Injuries
Collateral ligament tears are a common injury of the knee. The medial and lateral collateral ligaments (MCL and LCL) are located on the sides of your knee and control sideways motion. Athletes who participate in direct contact sports like football or soccer are more likely to sprain or tear their collateral ligaments.
Diabetic Foot Problems
Complications from diabetes can lead to several foot-related issues, such as diabetic neuropathy (damage to the nerves), ulcers and other non-healing wounds, peripheral vascular disease, bone necrosis (death of the bone), and other serious disorders. Left untreated, diabetic foot problems can lead to amputation. Our dedicated specialists are experts in all forms of diabetic foot care.
Dupuytren's Contracture
Dupuytren’s contracture is an abnormal increase in the thickness of the fascia, a tissue that lays just beneath the skin of the hand. Symptoms may include pitting, or lumps in the hand. It tends to pull the fingers inward, bending them into a flexed position, which can be permanent unless corrected.
Flat Foot Deformity
Often related to a posterior tibial tendon issue, flat feet allow the arch to sag so that it flattens when touching the ground. Flat feet can be congenital (present at birth), or they may be caused by injuries or degenerative conditions of the foot and ankle.
Foot and Ankle Arthritis
Arthritis of the foot and ankle can cause severe discomfort and may impede your ability to walk and move. Besides pain, swelling, and joint stiffness, it can also lead to joint deformity. We offer both surgical and non-surgical treatments for foot and ankle arthritis.
Hammer Toes
Hammer toes are a type of deformity that causes the toe to curl or bend inward and downward. It may be present at birth or develop over time. Hammer toes can be genetic (passed along in families) or develop from wearing improperly fitting tight shoes without ample toe room.
Hip Dislocation
A hip dislocation is an extremely painful event (often caused by trauma) in which the head of the thighbone is forced outside its normal position. A dislocated hip is a serious medical condition that requires immediate medical attention.
Hip Fracture
While hip fractures are more common among older adults, this injury can also occur from traumatic events such as a fall or car accident. Although hip fractures can happen at any age, bones tend to become weaker with age. Hip fractures normally require surgical intervention to treat.
Hip Revision Surgery
Iliotibial Band Syndrome
Iliotibial (IT) band syndrome is one of the most common causes of knee pain in runners, cyclists, and competitive weightlifters. The IT band inserts below the knee and extends to the outside of the pelvis, running over the knee and hip. Related to overuse, the band can become irritated, causing severe pain when climbing stairs, running, or even walking.
Infections
Infections of the skin can sometimes spread to bones and other connective tissue, requiring targeted treatment that may include antibiotics, debridement, or surgery. Some infections can become chronic, and all infections should be treated promptly by a qualified medical professional.
Inflammatory Conditions of the Hip
Several disorders and conditions can cause inflammatory conditions in the hip. These can include osteoarthritis of the hip, trochanteric bursitis, osteonecrosis of the hip, and other diseases of the hip. We offer surgical and non-surgical treatment options for hip conditions.
Knee Arthritis

Knee Bursitis
Bursa are cushioning sacs of fluid located around joints. When inflamed they can be extremely painful. When the bursa is irritated, the condition is named for the affected joint. (Bursitis of the knee, elbow, etc.)
Knee Joint and Bursa Infection
A bursa is a fluid-filled sac that helps cushion the joint. They are located near large joints such as the knees, hips, shoulders, and elbows. In some cases, they can become inflamed and even infected by bacteria, which requires immediate medical attention.
Knee Revision Surgery
Knee revision surgery is required when a previous procedure or artificial joint component has failed. Our talented orthopedic surgeons are sometimes called in to remove and replace previous implants. Knee revision surgery sometimes requires bone grafts to complete.
Lumps and Bumps
Various lumps and bumps such as cysts and bone spurs or tumors are frequently treated by orthopedic physicians. The vast majority is non-cancerous; however, they should always be evaluated by a trained specialist. Neuromas
Neuromas, such as Morton’s neuroma, presents as a thickening of the connective tissues around the nerves at the base of the toe. It often affects the areas between the 3rd and 4th toes. It may cause burning, numbness, or foot pain. It can be caused by wearing high-heel shoes that put pressure on delicate nerves around the toes.
Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement
While often necessary, surgery is still invasive to the body. In order to reach damaged tissue, surgeons have to cut down through additional layers of muscle, blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissues. Minimally invasive procedures such as arthroscopy, allow the doctor to work in small spaces, avoiding larger incisions. Smaller incisions mean fewer stitches, faster healing, less discomfort, and fewer surgical risks.
Minimally Invasive Knee Replacement
At one time, patients had to endure large incisions and long recovery times for knee replacement. Fortunately, that is no longer the case. Our skilled surgeons can insert new knee components through small incisions, resulting in less surgical risk, reduced healing time, and less pain following surgery.
Meniscal (Cartilage) Tear
Meniscal tears are one of the most frequent forms of injury to the knee. The meniscus is a rubbery, C-shaped pad that cushions and stabilizes the knee. Each knee has two menisci, which are vulnerable to tears caused by sudden changes in direction when in motion. A common football and running injury, meniscal tears can be treated surgically or non-surgically, depending on the nature and severity of the tear.
Patellar Fracture
Patellar fractures occur when the kneecap, a small round bone located directly in front of the knee, is broken. Because of the complex nature of the knee, a patellar fracture can also tear the quadriceps tendon that connects to the large muscle in front of the thigh.
Plantar Fasciitis

Posterior Tibial Tendon Problems
Posterior tibial tendon problems are an extremely common condition involving the ankle and foot. Strong connective fibers, known as tendons, anchor muscle to bone. Posterior tibial tendons are responsible for the stability of the arch of the foot, as well as supporting the foot when in motion, such as walking or running.
Snapping Hip
When your hip makes a popping sound when you rise from a seated position, move your legs, or walk, it can be alarming. This is often caused by connective tissue moving over a bony protrusion of the hip, or a related condition known as intra-articular snapping hip.
Stress Fractures
Stress fractures can occur when bones are pushed too far. This frequently occurs in runners and athletes who play sports with heavy running demands, such as football, soccer, and basketball. A stress fracture creates a small crack in the affected bone.
Tendinitis
Tendinitis is the inflammation of a tendon. Tendons are thick, strong connective tissues that anchor muscle to bone. When inflamed, they are painful and more vulnerable to tearing.
Tenosynovitis
Tenosynovitis is inflammation or irritation of the synovium, a protective lining that covers tendons. It is usually treated non-surgically, but in some cases, surgical intervention may be required.
Trauma and Fractures of the Foot and Ankle
Your feet do an exceptional job of standing up to daily wear and tear. Surprisingly complex, foot and ankle anatomy can be challenging to reconstruct, requiring specialized skills to rebuild the damaged foot and ankle components. In cases of traumatic injury, such as from sports or a motor vehicle accident, foot and ankle trauma often requires surgical intervention in order to heal properly.
Trigger Finger
Trigger finger, also called stenosing tenosynovitis, causes a locking sensation, along with pain in one or more fingers. In many cases it can be treated with a corticosteroid injection or other therapies.
Total Hip Replacement
Chronic conditions like osteoarthritis (also called wear and tear arthritis), rheumatoid arthritis, and others can make walking difficult, or even impossible. A hip replacement can replace the damaged components of the hip joint, restoring your ability to move more freely.
Total Knee Replacement
Knee replacement is an extremely common form of arthroplasty (artificial joint replacement). Depending on how much of the knee is damaged by osteoarthritis, you may need a total or only a partial knee replacement. Our orthopedic surgeons will determine which procedure is right for you.
